Sacrifice Unity Survival

The unity, the effectiveness, and even the survival of A.A. will always depend upon our continued willingness to give up some of our personal ambitions and desires for the common safety and welfare. Just as sacrifice means survival for the individual alcoholic, so does sacrifice mean unity and survival for the group and for A.A.’s entire Fellowship. AS BILL SEES IT, p. 220

I have learned that I must sacrifice some of my personality traits for the good of A.A. and, as a result, I have been rewarded with many gifts. False pride can be inflated through prestige but, by living Tradition Six, I receive the gift of humility instead. Cooperation without affiliation is often deceiving. If I remain unrelated to outside interests, I am free to keep A.A. autonomous. Then the Fellowship will be here, healthy and strong for generations to come.

My thoughts on June 30th Reading

Sacrifice in sobriety is helping others, carrying the message can become carrying the mess some times, I did need to learn when to let go and let God handle things, some just are not ready to surrender to the disease

Unity is defined as singleness of purpose, or action, we sure have a single purpose, that is to carry the message of recovery to all who are willing to surrender to their disease when ever I reach out to help others I gain some real love and friendships

Survival is the ability to be able to reach out of myself to find others to help, in the beginning I didn't know how much I should try to help I gave people my phone number, I get theirs and call them

I took them to meetings when they ask me; give them our big book, work with them on the steps I found that by this kind of sacrifice of my time to reach out to help other I found my own sobriety growing

There is no joy greater than helping others, when it is accepted, to watch someone’s eyes open with wonder, as they move from darkness into light to see their lives fill with meaning, to watch people awaken to the presence of God living by His will

We always get as good as we give, so yes we help ourselves, working with others improved my own judgment of character, it taught me patience tolerance and understanding to survive another day

I sit in AA meetings and listen, not only to get something, but to give support just by being there so others can see they are not alone, when I speak at a meeting I try to carry AA's message of recovery thru unity of the groups I attend

There are opportunities for everyone to get active in their group, many feel uncomfortable speaking at meetings, they can take other jobs like making the coffee, cleaning up after meetings, or just talking to others one on one before the meeting

I have learned that when I give unconditional love I always get it back, God does return to anyone giving freely of their time trying to help others, trusting God’s wisdom is knowing I can not keep this fellowship unless I give it all away,

I had reach out for my own survival with this new knowledge of how the program work I grew in the fellowship and my own life is always enriched when I reach out to my fellow suffers

God gave me this gift!! I had to Use it or to lose it!!

Lets all carry this message "God can do for us what we can't do for ourselves if we let Him

God Bless you Al M
