Reflections reading June 8th
Self-searching
is the means by which we bring new vision, action, and grace to bear upon the
dark and negative side of our natures. With it comes the development of that kind
of humility that makes it possible for us to receive God’s help. . . . we find
that bit by bit we can discard the old life — the one that did not work — for a
new life that can and does work under any conditions whatever. AS BILL SEES IT,
pp. 10, 8
I
have been given a daily reprieve contingent upon my spiritual condition,
provided I seek progress, not perfection. To become ready for change, I
practice willingness, opening myself to possibilities of change. If I realize
there are defects that hinder my usefulness in A.A. and toward others, I become
ready by meditating and receiving direction. “Some of us have tried to hold on
to our old ideas and the result was nil until we let go absolutely” (Alcoholics
Anonymous, p. 58). To let go and let God, I need only surrender my old ways to
Him; I no longer fight nor do I try to control, but simply believe that, with
God’s help, I am changed and affirming this belief makes me ready. I empty
myself to be full of awareness, light, and love, and I am ready to face each
day with hope.

My
thoughts on June 8th Reading
Opening up to change, God is never
changing but I am, I need His guidance to change myself daily, God gave me the
serenity to accept changing my life style, to be in tune with His will,
acceptance is change in the making, I was told to change or fear going back out
Situations are a part of life and each
one teaches us new things about ourselves, change is how to over come them, to
become a better person, for learning the lesson, each time I take a new
direction in my life, I am given a new chance to grow up if I stay open to the
change
Change is the one constant in my life,
yet even today it causes me unrest when I forget that change is growth, change
is good, change ensures emotional well being, promises freedom from that spirit
of myself, on my journey through the twelve steps
Acceptance of change comes from my
recalling things in the past, change brings new understanding, greater
strength, and confidence in all things, God wants us all to enlarge our
capacity to love serve and understand why we must be open to changes
Today I can smile if a change for the
good comes my way with out the fear, knowing that it’s God’s invitation to a
richer life, all changes include risk, but I know that God wants this change to
improve the quality of my new life
Change is a part of a plan working in my
life, in the care and keeping of God, everything is in good hands, God does
give me everything I need to change, all I need to do is accept His help,
accept change willingly and with serenity
Knowing its for the best that I need the
change to become a better person, change is an absolute growth is optional I
had to be open to all the changes I had to make in my life, changing my old
life style to become the mad God intended me to be
God bless you Al M
