Global Sharing
The
only thing that matters is that he is an alcoholic who has found a key to
sobriety. These legacies of suffering and of recovery are easily passed among
alcoholics, one to the other. This is our gift from God, and its bestowal upon
others like us is the one aim that today animates A.A.’s all around the globe.
TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 151
The strength of Alcoholics Anonymous lies in the desire of each member and of each group around the world to share with other alcoholics their suffering and the steps taken to gain, and maintain, recovery. By keeping a conscious contact with my Higher Power, I make sure that I always nurture my desire to help other alcoholics, thus insuring the continuity of the wonderful fraternity of Alcoholics Anonymous

My
thoughts on October 27th Reading.
Carrying the message can become carrying
the mess some times, I all needed to learn when to let go and let God handle
things, some just are not ready yet, or as Dr bob would say they haven't jelled
YET the twelve Steps is where we carry the action in all our affairs this is
the payoff
Even the newest of newcomers can find
many rewards as he tries to help another like the one who just walked into the
halls, just putting a hand out to welcome the new comer, I found that by this kind
of giving I have found my own sobriety growing
Whether this new person has received
anything or not does not matter today, I try to only carry the message, not the
drunk, I just need to be there for them, there is no joy greater than in a Twelfth
Step call that is accepted by a new person
Remember when most of us got here we
didn't know what was really wrong with us, it was only by sharing all of our
stories with others that we were able to receive help in our own recovery, we
are able to reach out to help everyone affected with our disease
Accepting change is the principle I use
to stay sober, we have to be united so we can help those who come after us I
need to make a brand new venture into open-mindedness to work on problems other
than alcohol like my character defects and shortcomings
I try to give everyone the same kind of
unconditional love, understanding, and most importantly tolerance, the same
things I received, when I arrived at the doors of this God given fellowship,
the ultimate authority in AA is a loving God as we understand Him
Helping the new comer the best way to get
out of myself and self centered attitude, it is the most rewarding thing I have
ever seen, to watch their eyes open with wonder as they move from darkness into
light
To see their lives fill with purpose and
meaning to see them received back into life to watch people awaken to the
presence of a loving God in their lives this is what I receive when I try to
carry AA's message to the alcoholic
I sit in A.A. meetings and listen, not
only to get something, but to give support, just by being there filling the
chair, so others can see they are not alone, when I speak at a meeting I try to
carry God's message of hope and love
There are many opportunities for everyone
to get active in their home group, many feel uncomfortable speaking at
meetings, but they can be the ones who take other jobs, like making the coffee
for the meetings, or help cleaning up after meetings
Just talking to others one on one when
asked, newcomers have found confidence and comfort in the laughter and talk
before the meetings and after them, God gave us this gift to pass on to the
next sick and suffering person lets all carry this message
God
can do for us what we can't do for ourselves
God bless you Al M
